Al Mansouri: The Initiative aims to raise the efficiency of UAE human resources and to increase the competitive level of the UAE market.

Insurance Authority (IA) launched an initiative under the name of "My Skills" to qualify and train UAE nationals for free in all disciplines and fields of insurance in line with the initiative of Year of Giving 2017 launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
HE Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of Insurance Authority, said that this training initiative dedicated to UAE nationals comes from initiative of Year of Giving 2017 launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and translates the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to launch activities that contribute to the implementation of Year of Giving Initiative.
Mr. Al Mansouri added that the initiative is launched by Insurance Authority to raise the efficiency of human resources in the insurance companies and to provide their employees with skills and qualifications so as to enhance the efficiency of the local market's performance and improves of the personnel performance in the sector.
He explained that the training initiative will be implemented through cooperation with the British Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and by holding specialized training courses to qualify the UAE nationals and employees in the sector so that they could obtain the world's highest professional certificates.
He stressed that these initiatives come in light of the IA's keenness to raise the academic and practical level of human cadres working in the local market and in view of the importance of education, training and qualification for early transition to the knowledge economy and the role of qualified human resources in advancing economic and social development process. Mr. Al Mansouri highlighted that the availability of skilled employees in the insurance sector is one of the catalysts for investment and a key contributor to the transition to the knowledge economy.
His Excellency said that the Insurance Authority, so as to achieve this objective, searched for the most important insurance institutes worldwide and the most important experiences in the developed countries for the purpose of raising the level of efficiency and improving staff capabilities in the insurance sector in accordance with the highest standards for the best professional certification in the insurance sector.
It is expected that the Initiative will be implemented at the end of the first quarter of this year, after the IA has signed cooperation agreement with CII.
CII is selected after a comprehensive and thorough study was conducted by the IA to assess the training need of the UAE nationals and employees in the insurance sector. It is found by this study that 88.6% of the employees in insurance companies greatly desire to obtain academic and professional certificates specialized in insurance. CII in London ranked the highest educational institutions, with 60%, from which the insurance academic certificates are sought.
The initiative will be implemented through two stages. Firstly, the training shall be given for basic certificates in order to qualify the UAE nationals and employees for the second stage of the target certificates provided by CII until professional diploma in insurance will be granted for some of the targeted professions.
The training courses will cover academic materials developed according to the latest sciences in the field of insurance, such as products of general insurance, customer services in the insurance area and method of developing financial plans. Certificates in financial and insurance services and insurance will be awarded.
