Insurance Authority Presents its Educational Initiatives at the Education and Human Resources Council

H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, chaired the third meeting of the Education and Human Resources Council which was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Abu Dhabi.
In the opening of the meeting, H. H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, called for higher priority in employment to those who completed the national service.
H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al-Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Insurance Authority (IA) delivered a presentation during the meeting about the most important projects and initiatives in the area of education in the insurance sector.
He indicated that in line with the vision of the prudent leadership of the State and in implementation of the education and training initiatives in the insurance sector, the IA seeks, through its strategy to qualify the national resources to obtain the required insurance academic and professional qualifications and increase the number of UAE nationals working in the insurance sector as well as to prepare the UAE nationals to assssume leading positions in the middle and senior management.
He pointed out that the projects applied in the area of supporting education and training are represented in signing a number of agreements with the universities to boost the creative ideas and practical skills at the level of the insurance sector and launching a training initiative for the UAE students in the universities and colleges, including adopting practical training in the IA , introducing innovative contests for the students in the area of designing smart applications, holding training courses for the UAE nationals in cooperation with the international specialized institutes to grant international professional certificates in the insurance field, in addition to holding seminars aiming at raising the insurance awareness in a number of UAE universities, colleges, and institutes, and holding workshops for the judges and prosecutors.
On the IA's current projects to support education and training, the Minister said that an agreement was to be signed with the British Chartered Insurance Institute to grant international professional certificates to UAE nationals working in the insurance sector. The training will start in the second half of 2016. Furthermore, work is underway on a project to develop national skills and qualification in the insurance sector and to cooperate with the National Qualification Authority to develop the criteria for the national skills and qualifications in the insurance sector.
He added that the IA's current projects to support education and training include a project to establish the UAE Insurance Institute in cooperation with the competent authorities to prepare the adequate legislative environment, in addition to a project of signing a memorandum of understating with the Ministry of Education on cooperation with the Ministry with respect to sending UAE students on scholarship to international universities and institutes in order to obtain specialized academic or professional certificates in the insurance firld.
The meeting was attended by H.E.Sultan Bin Saeed Al-Mansouri, Minister of Economy, H.E. Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, H.E. Najla bint Mohammad Alawar, Minister of Community Development, H.E. Jameela bint Salem Mosbeh Al Mehairi, Minister of State for General Education, and H.E. Dr. Ahmad bin Abdullah Humaid Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education.
It is worth mentioning that the Education and Human Resources Council was formed under the decision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to find quick solutions in the education domain and adapt education to the labor market.
