During its 2nd meeting chaired by H.E. Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board,
the Joint Council for Planning and
Excellence examined initiatives and events that would consolidate the valuable goals
of the Year of Reading 2016 in addition to the initiatives related to happiness
and building of the excellent team.
The meeting was attended by the Board members; namely H.E.
Mohamed Ahmed bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Shehhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of
Economy for Economy Affairs, H.E.
Abdullah Ahmed Al Saleh, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Industrial
Affairs and Foreign Trade, H.E. Ibrahim
Obaid Al-Zaabi, Director General of the Insurance Authority, and H.E. Obaid Saif
Al-Zaabi, Acting CEO of the Securities and Commodities Authority.
During the meeting held in Dubai, Mr. Al Mansouri affirmed
the importance of the initiatives and events proposed for the Year of Reading and
the indicators of happiness and excellence which would uplift the performance of
the governmental entities and translate the prudent Leadership’s vision and aspirations
to achieve renaissance and progress of the UAE in depicting a bright future
for generations to come.
During the meeting, four initiatives were introduced to
be implemented in the near future. The first initiative is entitled “Knowledge is
the Right for All” and it provides an electronic platform for the books and abstracts
through mobile applications. It also provides the abstracts of the employees participating
in the ‘Reader Employee’ prize to encourage the employees and members of the society
to read and train on summarization and speed reading at the GITEX 2016 exhibition
in support of the Year of Reading.
The second initiative is entitled “Life-long
Companion”, where a professional
company will be contracted to deliver training workshops on the mechanism of summarizing
books and speed reading to a number of employees of the entities forming the Joint
Council for Planning and Excellence at GITEX exhibition which
will give them the opportunity to learn summarization of books and speed reading.
The title of the third initiative is “Reading is your Right”
and aimed at encouraging the UAE students to read by handing over some stories that
match their needs with the participation of the individuals of the entities of the
Council and under organization of the Authority and through coordination with the
concerned entity in the State to address Abu Dhabi Education Council in order to
coordinate with the UAE schools.
The fourth initiative is “Out of the Box” and it aims at
enhancing the innovation culture in the institutions affiliated to the Joint Council
for Planning and
Excellence and uplifting the competitive spirit among the entities by enrolling
some employees in a training program that enables them to obtain a diploma on innovation
in collaboration with the Higher Colleges of Technology.
