As part of its awareness campaigns on insurance rights, the Insurance Authority organized a series of awareness lectures on the concept of insurance in the Society Majalis in the Emirate of Sharjah during the holy month of Ramadan.
The lectures included Society Majalis in the Emirate of Sharjah in Dibba Al Hisn, Mughaidir, Al Subaiha, Waset, Muwaileh and Khalidiyah. In addition to Women's Majalis in Dibba Al Hisn, Waset and Al Khalidiyah areas.
H.E. Ebrahim Obeid Al Zaabi, Director General of the Insurance Authority, explained that the main objective of these lectures and awareness workshops is to promote and raise insurance awareness among all segments of the society, which is carried out in coordination with the concerned authorities in each emirate at the State's level.
Within these awareness workshops, the most important topics in regulations of Unified Motor Vehicle Insurance Policy and Third-Party Liability Insurance Policy. In addition to making a comparison between the most important benefits and provisions of the previous policy and the new policy, clarifying that the benefits guaranteed by the new regulations of motor vehicle insurance policies are unprecedented, that compare favourably with the best international standards.
The lectures addressed the basis of repairing a vehicle, compensation mechanism, deductibles and how to resolve disputes in case they occur. Furthermore, screening a series of awareness films produced by the Authority in various fields of insurance.
Al-Zaabi added that the awareness lectures highlighted the advantages of the unified motor vehicle insurance policy issued by the Insurance Authority in 2016 in order to address the problems in the old policy issued in 1987. As well as, explaining the new benefits for the interest of customers and the sector. These benefits aim to promote the positive competition between companies by the issuance of a tariff system for the motor insurance premiums, that allows companies to compete in providing the best services, which is not only based on the premium amount. Accordingly, this would lead to the protection of companies and insured from the policy of burning prices and speculation.
